Presented in an elegant tea canister that makes for a great gift. Each tea canister contains a heat-sealed aluminium foil bag filled with Peony White tea.
This white tea is harvested in Spring 2019 from the high mountains of Zhenghe in Fujian, China. Zhenghe county, with average elevation of 800m is renowned for producing white tea since the Song dynasty (960 - 1279). As the story goes, the original name of Zhenghe was Guan Li (meaning ‘slaves in captivity’). The county’s silver needle white tea has consistently won tea competitions and was presented as a tribute tea to emperor Song Hui Zong. The emperor was so delighted that he thought the name Guan Li was not fit for a region that produces the finest white tea. So, the emperor conferred his reign title, Zhenghe, to the county and changed the county’s name to Zhenghe. Zhenghe became the first county in China to be named by the emperor for its remarkable white tea.
Peony White contains a high proportion of leaf buds amongst whole leaf and the trichome fragrance stands out amidst its mellow and mild floral, fruity flavour profile.
